Meet the President
Bodequia Simon, LMSW
Bodequia created Black Girls in Social Work after experiencing a lack of support and resources as a new MSW graduate. She recognized a large need for a safe community for Black women in Social Work that welcomed and embraced their vulnerabilities, needs, and authenticity. Bodequia is a visionary that has expanded Black Girls in Social Work’s reach from online to in-person across the country. Her work is focused on educating the masses about Social Workers’ contributions to society and assisting Social Workers, primarily Black Women, with breaking existing barriers to having success in the Social Work field.
Bodequia is a Licensed Master Social Worker that serves as the first Library Social Worker in Orangeburg, SC. She is a Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor, Social Work Creative, Author, and Speaker.
