Black Girls in Social Work
‘While she moves forward, I will always have my sister’s back.’
ABOUT
Black Girls in Social Work (BGSW) is a support and networking organization for Black Women pursuing, studying, and working within the Social Work field. We strive to provide a safe space online and in-person for Black Women within the field through our promotion of self-care, networking, professional and personal growth, and providing community service to vulnerable communities.
BGSW MISSION
Our mission is to maintain a safe space for Black women in Social Work that promotes empowerment, networking, and their personal and professional advancement while also providing for communities in need through service.
WHO WE ARE
We are a support and networking organization founded on August 1, 2018 by Bodequia Simon, LMSW for Black women pursuing and working within the field of Social Work. With our base being social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, we created a safe space for Black women within the field to network, support, and empower one another. We are expanding past the cyber world and making our mark within the field and within vulnerable communities in need. With our core values being empowerment, service, and sisterhood, we will continuously work to live up to our slogan "As she moves forward, I will always have my sister's back."
